This week the Parma Western Panthers Girls Tennis Team competed in the State Finals at the University of Michigan. The team finished 10th in the state with 8 points which are the 2nd highest for both in school history. One of the highlights from the tournament was 3 doubles of Anna Wilcox and Karly Foster were seeded #5 and beat Edwardburg in the 2nd round, then beat #4 seed East Grand Rapids in the quarterfinals and then lost to the #1 seed Marian with a score of 3-6, 3-6, which is the best finish by any flight in school history. As a result, the Panthers 3 doubles team is the best public school team in that flight and are the first players to be seeded multiple times at the State Finals in Western history. Another highlight was that 4 doubles of Anna Willinger and Silvia Baker were seeded #6 who beat Grand Rapids Catholic Central and ended up losing to #3 seed East Grand Rapids. More About Summer and Fall Volleyball InformationGame 1 ( District Semi-Finals)Western 3 Marshall 1 Brody Parrott’s 2 Run Homerun in the 4th propels Western to a District Semifinal Victory. In an absolute pitchers duel Andrew Parrott outlasts Marshalls Gillum in a 1 hit 1 Run 5 Strikeout effort. There were several key moments during this intense baseball game but none bigger than a bases loaded over the shoulder two out catch by catcher Jackson Luke in the 5th inning. Lincoln Levy, B Parrott and Luke Nally each had one hit in the contest as B Parrott had 2 RBI’s and A Parrott had 1 RBI. Western created chaos on the basepaths once again as DJ VanRiper swiped 4 bases and Brayden Woodard stole 1. With the Win Western will face the Winner of Northwest and Coldwater for a District Title. More About Varsity Baseball Wins District Title!I hope that you are all doing well and are finishing up your school year well! Once again, we will be doing summer training sessions throughout the summer. Workouts will start on Monday, June 9 and will run until girls season starts on August 11. Workouts will consist of a combination of lifting and swimming from 7:30 am- 9:45 am. The day-to-day schedule is attached. These workouts are in addition to the newly formed Jackson Swim Club workouts, which will be led by Coach Morgan and run from 11:30- 1:00 pm on Monday-Thursday. The club will offer a much more consistent practice schedule. These workouts are intended to provide dryland work and give you an opportunity to swim to get ready for the upcoming season. These workouts that I am offering will only be open to high school swimmers. My availability will not be as much in the summer as in years past and I won't be able to offer the wide-ranging practices t

Western opened the floodgates in the 3rd inning putting up 7 runs and adding to it in the 4th and 5th inning to mercy the Vikings in 5 innings. Andrew Parrott struck out 6 and only allowed 1 hit in the contest to pick up the Victory. Charlie Stevens came in as relief, throwing one inning and only allowing 1 hit. Western amassed 11 hits in the 5 innings as Luke Herrington totaled 3 (2B) Luke Nally, Lincoln Levy and Jackson Luke(2B) each had 2 hits. DJ Vanriper and Justin Chapko each collected 1 hit each. More About Baseball Sweeps BronsonWHS had 2 players selected for the Mid-Southern Boys Volleyball All-Conference team. The Panthers recognized for their outstanding seasons are outside hitters Lucas Parrott and Vincent Keller. Sophomore Lucas Parrott led the Mid-Southern Conference in kills with 3 kills per set. Conference coaches were impressed by his power and ability to hit over and around opposing defenses. Lucas was 3rd in the conference in blocks at the outside hitter position. He was also one of the most accurate servers in the conference serving at 96% accuracy. Senior Vincent Keller was recognized for his outstanding defense and aggressive serving. He averaged 2 digs per set, 1.4 kills per set and served at 73% accuracy. He was a relentless defender and made some amazing digs at crucial moments for the Panthers. The Panther Ladies had a fantastic showing, medaling in almost every event! Notable performances include a win from Aykina Weatherspoon in the 100 hurdles, a second place finish from Natalie Kuhl in the 3200, the 4x800 team of Ella Wilcox, Bridget Fullerton, Bertha Quiroga and Kuhl placed second, and third place finishes from Addison Singleton in Discus, the 4x100 team of Anna Kay Marshall, Lydia Coleman, Aivree Baker and Weatherspoon and the 4x200 team of Natalee Gough, Charlie Damron, Coleman and Marshall. More About Western Panthers Edge Marshall 1-0 in District Semifinal ThrillerThe Panthers headed to Island Hills GC to compete in the Division 2 Regional Final on Tuesday afternoon. With a trip to the State finals on the line, the Panthers played some of their best golf of the season. In a loaded field. The Panthers came away with a 3rd place finish and punched their ticket to the State Finals at Bedford Valley GC. We believe this is the first time a Western team has made it to the State finals since 1975.
