Home of the Panthers
The 7th grade A team traveled to Northwest last looking for some revenge against the Mounties for a close loss earlier in the season. Unfortunately, the Panthers fell just short, losing 38-37. After a great start to the game by jumping out to a 13-2 lead after the first quarter, Western got bit by the turnover bug and allowed a scrappy Northwest team to get back into the game. Both teams played pretty even for the rest of the game down to the last seconds. With about 20 seconds left and Western trailing by 1, we were able to get a steal and score a layup to take the lead. Northwest was able to drive to the basket and draw a foul with 5 seconds left, unfortunately making both free throws. Our last second desperation shot was off the mark. This brings our record to 3-5 and we host Hastings on Wednesday. Scoring for Western...Derek Boldt - 9Chanddym Stephenson - 2Christian Johnson - 3Nathan Chapko - 2Liam Bryant - 9Darren Greene - 12
More About 7th Grade A Boys Basketball Battled NorthwestThe Panthers hosted their rivals from Northwest last night and did not make them feel welcome as Western cruised to a 23 point victory. The Panthers got off to a bit of a sluggish start after the long 5 day break and found themselves trailing 3-8 midway through the 1st quarter. However, the full-court press and high pressure defense from Western was too much for Northwest to handle, and the Panthers went on a 15-0 run to finish the quarter which included a big 3-point basket from Wyatt Bell. The points continued to accumulate for the Panthers in the 2nd quarter as they scored 20 to take a 38-23 lead into halftime. While the offense cooled off just a bit in the second half, the defense for Western remained tough and the final score for the game was 65-42. Dom Galloway was an absolute beast for the Panthers. He scored a career high 30 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (10 offensive) to go along with 3 blocks, two of which should have come with a

More About Girls Tennis MeetingThe 8th grade A boys basketball team hosted Lumen Christi last night. Carter O'Connell opened the game with a quick basket just after tip, but unfortunately that would be the only time the Panthers led. It was a tight game early though as the Panthers trailed by just 5 after the first quarter, 8-13. Throughout the second quarter the Panthers were hanging around and went into the half trailing 25-17. Lumen came out of the half and sank a quick 3-point basket to take an 11 point lead, but the Panthers did not back down and fought extremely hard to get back into the game. Bentley Coon found Dom Galloway down on the block to get the lead back to single digits. Logan Young sank a pair of free-throws and then followed those with a steal and a layup. Wyatt Bell sank a runner to cut the lead to 3 at 27-30 late in the third quarter. However, the turnover bug bit the Panthers as they turned it over on their next 4 possessions, which l
