Western Varsity Baseball Write UpGame 1 and 2 Vs. Napoleon Game 1Western 7 Napoleon 2 The Western Varsity Baseball team started their 2025 campaign with dominant pitching in both contests. In game 1 Brody Parrott went 5 ⅔ innings collecting 11 K’s giving up zero runs and zero hits. Justin Chapko came in as a bulldog to finish the contest out. B.Parrott was able to collect 2 RBI’s for the Panthers. D.J. VanRiper(2B) and Lincoln Levy both collected hits. Andrew Parrott and Cody Spitzer each collected 1 R.B.I. each. The Panthers showed patience at the plate as they drew up 7 walks. Once on the basepaths Western stole 6 bases in the game. The infield was stellar as they turned 2 double plays and made countless routine plays. A. Parrott, B Parrott, Spitzer, Chapko and Luke Herrington each stole 1 base. More About Baseball Sweeps NapoleonThe junior Panthers traveled to Napoleon to start the season Tuesday and came home with two victories, winning game one 14-0 and game two 7-1.In game 1 Chase Budd got the win, striking out 9 batters. Ben Decker came in and closed the game, he had 1 strike out. As a team the Panthers recorded 9 hits and 20 stolen bases. Hez Gin had 2 of the hits, including a great bunt bringing in a run.Aaron Chapko started game 2 on the mound, he had 7 strikeouts and didn't allow any runs. Bennett Luke closed the game, he had 2 strike outs. At the plate Chase Budd drove in 4 runs on 2 hits. Isaiah Norwood added 2 hits as well. The JV team gets their first home game this Thursday hosting Charlotte.
More About JV Baseball opens the season with 2 wins!The varsity softball team opened their season at home against Napoleon Tuesday night. The team returns just five players from last season, but are surrounded by young talent. Game one, freshman Amber Gregory led the team from the mound striking out 10 Pirates. She didn't give up a single walk in seven innings. She allowed just three hits with no earned runs. The offense was led by Kenadee Golas with two hits and Gregory hit an RBI triple! Maycee DeGroat, Savanna Vo, and Bayli Stewart collected hits for the Panthers. The team's small ball game and speed helped the Panthers score runs! Final score Western 5, Napoleon 3. Game two, freshman Audrina Bisonet took the mound. In five innings, she struck out eight and didn't walk a batter! Gregory pitched the final two innings, sitting down five more batters! More About Varsity Softball Opens Season Against the PiratesThe Girls Varsity soccer team opened the season with an 8 - 0 road victory Tuesday night over host Leslie High School. Freshman, Madison Brandt led the team with 3 goals. Lola Berdiner scored two. Claudia Allen, Nevaeh Hartshorn, and Emma Hackworth scored one each. Rayah Hitt had two assists and Hartshorn, Berdiner, Allen and Kaydence Watson each had an assist. Shelby Vivian and Bria Frost each spent time in goal to combine for the shutout. The Panthers will play Mason on Thursday for their home opener. JV will play at 5:00 and the Varsity will start at 6:30. The game will be played on the turf field.
More About Varsity Soccer Shuts Down LeslieThe Western girls JV soccer team traveled to Milan Tuesday April 1st to take on Milan. The Panthers started out slow after having a week off for spring break. Keeper Madi Redovich kept them in the first half coming up with multiple saves and only letting one by her to keep the score 0-1 at the half. The Panthers had a few opportunities before the half ended coming up short. The Western girls started the second half like a new team, connecting passes and moving the ball forward creating opportunities to score, Emma Paquin had the first 2 goals with assists from Jillian Barnes and Ceci Greatz. With Lily Kalenchick finishing off the scoring for Western. Milan never sat back and were able to capitalize on the few chances they did get. Finishing the game up one on the Panthers for a final score of Western 3 Milan 4. The Panthers are in action again Thursday April 3rd at home against Mason at 5:00.
More About Western girls JV soccer Falls to MilanThe PantHER gymnasts ended their 2024-2025 season with 3 of their gymnasts competing at the MHSAA individual State Finals! 2 Freshmen: Emma Paquin:All Around Hannah Sorrow: floor/vault, 1 Junior- Hannah Whiting: Vault, Bars. While these gymnasts didn’t quite score in the top 10, these three are still ranked in the top 20 gymnasts in Division 1 in the state of Michigan! More About 7th and 8th Grade Track InformationThe Western Panther wrestling team concluded their season last weekend at the Individual State Finals held at Ford Field.The Panthers finished the Team Season with a 15-10 record and defeated crosstown rival Northwest in the Team District Final 39-30 to clinch the 2025 Team District Championship! The team went on to face 11 time and now 12 time Division 2 defending state champions Lowell in the Regional Semi-Final and fell to them 64-10. Moving on to the Individual District the team qualified 5 wrestlers to move on to the Individual Regional which may have been the toughest in the state which included the number 1, 2, 6,8,and 9th ranked teams in Division 2. More About Wrestling End Solid Season - Titan Parker 5th in the StateOn Saturday March 1st, our Western PantHERs headed west to Rockford for their regional competition after having 16 gymnasts qualify this season! After their historic conference win, their next endeavor was qualifying as a team for the state finals. The top 3 teams qualify, and the girls fell short by just 0.725 points behind Lowell 136.275, and JAG 136.3. Our Panthers scored 135.55 placing 4th (which is the highest regional ranking in 24 years). The emotions ran high and as these young women had a GREAT and historic season! For 3 individuals, the season continues to the individual State competition this Saturday March 8th in Kenowa Hills! The 3 individuals are : Two freshmen Hannah Sorrow and Emma Paquin, and one Junior Hannah Whiting. More About Gymnastics Takes 4th at MHSAA RegionalIn the first quarter, we came out swinging. We went on a 13-0 run with fast break points and really good aggressive team defense causing turnovers. Shelby Smith hit a big 3 and another basket while MadDog Madi Redovich scored 4. A’Kierra Sanders made a layup with Ellie Hackworth making another shot. We won the first quarter 13-0 The second quarter was different. We struggled with a constant changing Haslett defense (2-3, 1-3-1 and even a 1-2-2). Madi Redovich scored a basket and Olivia Sine went 1-2 from the free throw line. We struggled with their press and turned the ball over. We lost the quarter12-3. We led at half 16-12 The third quarter brought more balanced scoring. Shelby Smith hit a 2 pointer and made both free throws. Madi Redovich scored another basket and went 1-2 at the free throw line. Jill barnes went 1-2 at the free throw line playing incredible on ball defense. 
More About Western JV Lady Panthers took on Haslett on Thursday night in the DenThe Lady Panthers traveled to Pennfield Wednesday night for our final game of our season. We had a really slow start, trying to find our bearings. It took us until the 4th quarter to start playing and scored 25 of our 45 points in that quarter. The final score was 45-19. This ends our season at an impressive 9-1 record.We also ended our season with everyone scoring (minus our poor injured Maddi Sparks). This is the first time this season everyone has scored! More About 8th Grade A Girls Basketball Defeats Pennfield to End Season!Parma Western JV Tennis travelled to Holt on 8/19 for our first match. We split with Holt as we had wins at 1 Singles Isaac Chilson 8-5, 2 Singles Drew Gillett 8-2, 3 Singles Tyler Gilbert 9-8(7-4) and 1 Doubles Luke Collins and Brady Smith 8-3. Congrats and good work guys. Tomorrow, Western JV Tennis hosts Chelsea JV at 4. Go Panthers!
