The Western High School Girls Varsity Soccer team dropped their second straight match Thursday night, falling 2-1 on the road to Haslett High School.

The Panthers struck first, as Lola Berdiner earned a penalty kick after being taken down in the box. Berdiner stepped up and delivered, tucking the shot just under the crossbar to give Western an early 1-0 lead.

Haslett responded with two unanswered goals, including the game-winner with just under five minutes remaining, to secure the comeback victory. The Vikings also held a 15-9 advantage in shots on the night.

Aubree Allen was in goal for the Panthers, recording six saves and keeping Western within striking distance throughout the match. Defensively, Ellie Hackworth turned in a strong performance and was named Defensive Player of the Game. On the offensive side, Ceci Graetz earned Offensive Player of the Game honors for her consistent effort and work rate throughout the night.

With the loss, Western will look to regroup quickly as they return home for their third game in four nights. The Panthers host Hastings High School on Friday at the Panther Bowl and will aim to get back in the win column in conference play.
