A'Kierra Sanders’s Clutch Hitting Propels Western To Victory Over Hastings Varsity Saxons
A'Kierra Sanders drove in four runs on two hits to lead Western past Hastings 10-0 on Tuesday. Sanders hit a home run to center field in the fifth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the first inning, scoring one.
Amber Gregory struck out 11 batters on the day. The starting pitcher also surrendered three hits and zero runs over six innings while walking none.
Western got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Addison Yanovich homered to center field, Anna Benn hit a sacrifice fly, and Sanders singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Western scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to center field by Sanders.
Western collected 12 hits in the game. Gregory went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Western in hits. Yanovich, Boston Hoffius, and Maycee DeGoat each collected multiple hits for Western. The Panthers stole four bases in the game. Western didn't commit a single error in the field. Alyvia Ott had the most chances in the field with 11.

Western scored eight runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Hastings 15-0 on Tuesday. Boston Hoffius singled, scoring one run, Maycee DeGoat singled, scoring two runs, Audrina Bisonet singled, scoring two runs, Addison Yanovich singled, scoring one run, Hoffius drew a walk, scoring one run, and Amber Gregory hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Western added seven more runs in the bottom of the second inning on seven hits. Bisonet singled, scoring one run, Alyvia Ott grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Yanovich homered to center field, scoring two runs, Gregory doubled, scoring one run, and Lanie Syrek singled, scoring one run.
Bisonet earned the win for Western. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out four and walking two.
Western tallied 12 hits in the game. Yanovich, Bisonet, Hoffius, and DeGoat each collected two hits for the Panthers. Yanovich and Bisonet each drove in three runs for Western. The Panthers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
