The Western High School Girls Varsity Soccer team suffered their first conference loss of the season Tuesday night, falling 3-1 to Marshall High School.

Marshall controlled much of the game offensively, outshooting the Panthers 15-10. Western’s lone goal came from Madison Brandt, who finished a scoring opportunity off an assist from Jordan Goolsby.

The Panthers showed flashes throughout the game but struggled with their first touch and connecting passes, which limited their ability to sustain offensive pressure.

Madison Brandt was named Offensive Player of the Game for her strong attacking play and goal. Defensive Player of the Game honors went to forward Jillian Barnes for her relentless effort tracking back and contributing defensively from the forward position.

With the loss, Western moves to 6-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play. The Panthers will look to bounce back Thursday as they head on the road to take on a solid Haslett team.
