The Western Freshman Boys Basketball team fell to Marshall, 52-35, on Tuesday.
Logan Young scored eight points to lead the Panthers in scoring for the game, and Peyton Munz and Joel Toyer each chipped in seven points.
Marshall started the game on an 8-0 run before a Toyer bucket in the paint got the Panthers on the board.
Western stayed within striking distance over the course of the first three quarters. Three point baskets from Young and Toyer in the third quarter, as well as transition baskets from Young and Ethan Harris, chipped the Marshall lead to six late in the third. Marshall hit a three at the buzzer to end the third, extending the deficit back to nine and the Panthers never got any closer.
Young coupled his eight points with five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Munz came off the bench with five rebounds, one steal, one assist and one blocked shot.
Toyer also had three rebounds.
Harris scored six points and gathered three steals, two rebounds and an assist.
Lincoln Warner scored four points to go with three assists, one rebound and a steal.
Carter O’Connell dished three assists, grabbed a steal and secured a rebound.
Chaysten Stephenson scored two points and handled two offensive rebounds.
Colin Niemi grabbed two rebounds.
Alex Fausz made one of two free throws, nabbed two steals and a rebound.
Owen Gaughn and Edan Mast each secured a rebound.
Keegan Snellenberger swiped a steal.
Western now sits at 8-2 on the season. The Panthers travel to Stockbridge for a 4 o’clock tilt on Thursday.
