Score:
Western 47 - Northwest 14

Western JV Football team traveled to Northwest last night and came away with a 47-14 victory.  The Panthers and Mounties were in a battle in the first half as Northwest led at half time 14-13.  The Panthers made key defensive adjustments at half time which led to 34-0 2nd half for Western.  Defense brought the momentum back to Western as the offense fed off the energy and ran wild. Our defense was led by Cameron Fullerton as he added countless tackles for loss and created Havoc.  Camden Cole, Knox Archer, Parker Yokom, Jake Johnston, Lucas VanRiper, Nolan Robinson and Brayden Goldsmith were key players for an aggressive Panther defense.  The D line was powered by Chase Forcier, Xavier Riley, Michael McMurtrie and Landon Kingsbury as Forcier recovered a fumble for Western in a key play of the game.

On the offensive side of the ball Cole got the yard sticks moving as he carried the ball 5 times for 65 yards and a TD on the first drive.  Cole again found the end zone on the second possession of the game for his second TD and surpassed 150 yards rushing in the game.  Logan Young was also able to surpass 100 yards rushing as he had key reverse plays for big chunks of yardage and was able to find the endzone for 2 Touchdowns on the night.  Knox Archer who does much of the blocking dirty work for the Panthers took a trap 39 yards for a Touchdown.  Fullerton was the conductor of the offense as he managed his team with calmness and leadership.  Fullerton threw for 3 completions and a TD pass also rushing for 30 plus yards. Yokom was on the receiving end of the Touchdown pass as he made a catch at the line of scrimmage and then rushed in for a 25 yard TD reception.  VanRiper and Young had two huge blocks to set Yokom free.  Finishing out the scoring for the Panthers was Trey Payne as he found the endzone on a huge 65 yard run.  Trey finished the game with over 75 yards rushing and a TD.  Trevor Brandt added 5 extra points on the night with his powerful right foot as the snapping of Derek Vickers and holding of VanRiper was on point. Bennett Schultz is another do everything kind of player that was key for the Panthers. Always willing to do any assignment asked.  Our Offensive line of Vickers, Forcier, McMurtrie, Morgan Sheldon, Phoenix Laird, Jeremiah Hagerman and TJ Cook were exceptional and made huge adjustments to set up our running lanes.  Western rushed for 375 yards in the contest.

Western will host Haslett next Thursday at HOME.
