Singles were held at Harper Creek.
Jack Spooner was first to play and won his first match against Edwardsburg 2-6. 6-3,
10-3. Jack was unable to get it going in the second match and lost to the eventual
overall champion from Vicksburg 2-6, 2-6.
Jack Slisher has been battling a nagging injury and got a tough draw. He lost his match
to Edwardsburg 2-6, 0-6.
After sitting for five hours Lucas Parrott was finally able to get started. He defeated
Edwardsburg 6-3, 6-4. In the semifinals he won against Sturgis, 6-1, 6-2 to advance to
the finals where he lost to St. Joseph 1-6, 5-7 and earned a second-place regional
finish.
Aidan Carter got off to a hot start making quick work of his Coldwater opponent 6-3, 6-1.
In the semifinal match he faced St. Joseph and won 6-0, 7-5. Aidan faced Vicksburg in
the finals and won 6-3, 6-3 to become Regional Champion.
Doubles were at Marshall.
Jack Mannor and Bailee Porter came out firing on all cylinders and defeated Coldwater
6-2, 6-2. They faced Plainwell in the next round and just couldn’t quite get it going,
losing 3-6, 4-6.
Aarav Agarwal and Drew Gillett won their first match against Haper Creek 6-2, 6-2.
Next, they faced Gull Lake and ended up losing in the tie breaker. 4-6, 6-1, 1-6.
Luke Collins and Isaac Chilson got into a battle with Sturgis and were able to hold on to
win 7-6, 5-7, 6-2. In the semifinal round match Gull Lake was too much for them, 4-6, 0-
6.
Alex Bennett and Alex Davis fought through some early mistakes (it was cold) and took
down Plainwell 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 to earn the victory. In the next round they faced Coldwater
where they got off to a good start but couldn’t hold on, losing 6-4, 4-6, 1-6. Coldwater
made it to the finals.
The Panthers managed to score enough points as a team to finish in third place and
qualify for the State Finals!!! I am very proud of all the hard work these young men
have put in all season! It has been an honor to be part of this team and helping Coach
Collins.
