Tuesday’s I-8 League Championship meet felt more like March than May with temperatures in the low 40s and constant rain, making for less than ideal competition conditions. The Ladies of WHS Track and Field braved the weather though and stayed strong in their events.
Leading the pack was Freshman Aykina Weatherspoon with a win in the 100 hurdles, Junior Lydia Coleman placed 3rd in the 100, Senior Bertha Quiroga held on for a gritty 2nd place in the 800, while Senior Addison Singleton braved the flooded discus ring for a 3rd place power throw. The 4x200 and 4x800 teams also placed 3rd in Conference.
