JV Softball Defeats Harper Creek!

The bottom of the lineup helped Western JVSB capture a 12-7 victory in the first game against Harper Creek on Tuesday. Mary Messer, Lanie Syrek, and Sidney Vanarman combined for four of the team's seven hits in the victory. They scored three runs and drove in three. Western got on the board in the top of the first inning after Ava Buckland walked, Kaileigh Stiles tripled down the right field line, and Lilly Purucker grounded out, each scoring one run. JVSB tallied 10 hits in the game. Vanarman and Purucker each collected three hits for Western. Yanovich led Western High School JVSB with three runs batted in. Addi went 1-for-3 on the day. Stiles collected two hits for Western in two at bats. Stiles led with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 19 walks for the game. Ending the first game 23-9.
In the second game JVSB added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Harper Creek committed an error, and Addi Yanovich singled down the left field line, scoring one run.
Vanarman earned the win giving up five hits and seven runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Number seven hitter, Messer, showed the depth of the lineup, by leading them with three hits in three at bats.
Yanovich, Stiles, and Vanarman each drove in two runs. The girls had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game. Yanovich and Emmons led the team with two free passes each. Yanovich stole three bases. Ending the game early from rain 12-7.
