Panthers Dominate Royals in 8-0 Mercy Rule Victory at Panther Bowl
PARMA, MI — The Parma Western varsity girls soccer team delivered a commanding performance on Monday evening, overwhelming Jackson Christian with an 8-0 win that ended at halftime due to the mercy rule. The victory took place on home turf at the Panther Bowl, where the Panthers showed why they remain a top contender in their conference.
Freshman forward Lola Berdiner led the scoring charge with an impressive hat trick, netting three goals to ignite Western’s offense. Madison Brandt added two goals of her own, while Nevaeh Hartshorn, Rayah Hitt, and Kaydence Watson each contributed a goal to round out the scoring.
Playmaking was key for the Panthers, with Claudia Allen notching two assists and earning Offensive Player of the Game honors. Additional assists came from Bella Miles, Ellie Hackworth, Emrick Boobyer, Layla Hull, Madison Brandt, and Rayah Hitt, showcasing the team's unselfish style and depth.
On the defensive end, Layla Hull stood out with a strong performance, earning Defensive Player of the Game. Goalkeeper Bria Frost had a relatively quiet night but was solid when called upon, recording one save to secure the shutout.
With the win, Parma Western improves to 8-6-1 overall and remains undefeated in the Interstate 8 Conference at 4-0-1. The Panthers now set their sights on the conference championship game against fellow unbeaten Harper Creek, scheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Panther Bowl. The junior varsity match will precede the varsity game, kicking off at 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday’s matchup promises to be a thrilling showdown as both teams look to claim conference supremacy.
