It was sunny but cool Thursday evening at Western High, with a bit of a breeze, as the Panthers celebrated senior night with a win over Interstate-8 foe Pennfield.
In the field events, Adam Carlson won the pole-vault and the long jump, Brennan Vainner won the shot put, and Jacob Wielenga won the high jump. Wielenga also won the 110m hurdles, while Drew Gillette got the win in the 300m hurdles.
In the flat track events, Jayden Willis won the 100m, William Melton won the 200m, Ryan Good won the 400m, Ty Wielenga won the 800m, Trevin Warner won the 1600m, and Edison Lopeman won the 3200m.

Railsplitter Invitational
Tomorrow Western travels to the Railsplitter Invitational at Ypsilanti’s Lincoln High. Click HERE for meet information and to see entries. Western is taking everyone who isn’t likely to compete at next Friday’s Regional Finals.
The bus leaves from the parking lot near the tennis courts at 7:59am. Field events start at 10am and track events begin at noon.
There looks to be a good number of competitors, which may mean a long day. Athletes should pack a lunch, bring snacks and water, and be prepared for every kind of weather.
