Game 1

Western 10  Coldwater 8

The Panthers were in complete control through 5 innings as they led 7-1 off a strong pitching performance by Brody Parrott striking out 6 and giving up 1 earned run.  A plethora of errors in the bottom of 6 led to an 8-7 Coldwater lead going into the top of 7.  The Panthers stood tall as they tied the game in the top of 7 and then added two runs off of a safety squeeze by DJ VanRiper and SAC fly by Lincoln Levy in the 8th to take the victory.  Western collected 12 hits in the contest as VanRiper, Jackson Luke, Luke Nally and Justin Chapko each collected two hits. Andrew Parrott, Brody Parrott, Lincoln Levy and Luke Herrington picked up one hit each.  VanRiper and Luke both picked up two RBI’s as B Parrott, Chapko and Like each doubled.  VanRiper and Herrinton had 3 and 2 steals respectively.  Luke held the Cardinal running game in check as he picked two runners and did not allow a stolen base.  Levy capped the game off on the mound as he collected the Win as he struck out two in his two innings of work.  

Game 2 

Western 7  Coldwater 2

The Panthers jumped out to 3-0 lead through four and never looked back as they won the contest 7-2. Luke Herrington was an absolute problem for Coldwater as he collected four hits including a triple in which he scored on with the overthrow to 3rd. He tallied 10 total bases in the game and picked up 2 RBI’s.  Luke Nally picked up one hit in the contest to continue his 12 game hitting streak.  Andrew Parrott and Jack Mannor (1 RBI) collected two hits in the contest.  Jackson Luke picked up one hit in the contest to keep his 8 game hit streak alive. The Panthers tallied double digit hits in game two for 22 hits on the day.  Brayden Woodard, DJ VanRiper and Luke Nally were terrific in the outfield and came up with several run saving plays including a diving play by Woodard and a runner thrown out at home by Nally. Andrew Parrott was in control on the mound as he struck out 10 walking 2 and only allowed 2 earned runs.  Lincoln Levy came in to finish off the game in the 7th.  

Western will travel to Eastern Michigan University on Thursday to face off against Father Gabriel Richard with a 6:00 p.m. first pitch.
