Bottom Of The Lineup Carries Western Panthers Past Charlotte Varsity Orioles


The bottom of the lineup helped Western Panthers capture a 16-0 victory over Charlotte Varsity Orioles on Friday. Hailey VanAelst, Savanna Vo, and Mia Messer combined for four of the team's eight hits in the victory. They scored four runs and drove in five.

Western Panthers won thanks in part to 10 runs in the third inning. VanAelst drew a walk, scoring one run, Vo singled, scoring three runs, Kenadee Golas singled, scoring two runs, Alyvia Ott grounded out, scoring one run, VanAelst drew a walk, scoring one run, Vo drew a walk, scoring one run, and Bayli Stewart drew a walk, scoring one run.

Western Panthers jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after an error scored one run, VanAelst singled, scoring two runs, Golas tripled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.

Amber Gregory earned the win for Western Panthers. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out nine and walking none. #9 took the loss for Charlotte Varsity Orioles. The starting pitcher went three innings, giving up 16 runs (11 earned) on eight hits, striking out one and walking eight.

VanAelst, the number eight hitter for Western Panthers, led the way with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-1 on the day. Golas and Messer each collected two hits for Western Panthers. VanAelst led Western Panthers with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Western Panthers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ott had the most chances in the field with three.


 
 
 
 
Bayli Stewart A Difficult Out As Western Panthers Defeat Charlotte Varsity Orioles


Bayli Stewart collected three hits in three at bats, as Western Panthers defeated Charlotte Varsity Orioles 19-0 on Friday. Stewart singled in the fourth inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the second inning.

Amber Gregory struck out 11 batters on the day. The starter also gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings while walking two.

Western Panthers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Alyvia Ott singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

An error, and a wild pitch helped Western Panthers extend their early lead in the second.

Western Panthers added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when Kenadee Golas doubled, scoring two runs, and Maycee DeGroat singled, scoring one run.

Western Panthers scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fourth inning. Stewart singled, scoring two runs, Ott grounded out, scoring two runs, and DeGroat hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Western Panthers scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning. Stewart singled, scoring one run, DeGroat singled, scoring two runs, Gregory grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

Addie Shook took the loss for Charlotte Varsity Orioles. The pitcher went five innings, surrendering 19 runs (12 earned) on 13 hits, striking out two and walking eight.

Western Panthers piled up 13 hits in the game. DeGroat drove the middle of the lineup, leading Western Panthers with four runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-3 on the day. Golas, Stewart, and DeGroat each collected three hits for Western Panthers. Ott collected two hits for Western Panthers in four at bats. Western Panthers had patience at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Savanna Vo and Stewart led the team with two free passes each.
