Western JV Lady Panthers went on the road and took on a very good Williamston team last night.

In the first quarter, we started out with aggression and played well on both ends of the court.  We passed the ball better, we rebounded better.  Shelby Smith got off to a hot start Hitting a 3, and a pair of other buckets.  She single-handedly scored all the points in the first quarter.   We won the quarter 7-6

The second quarter we slowed on offense again, Shelby Smith was the only one to score with a bucket.  We did adjust to Williamstons cutting offense and held them to 6 points.   We lost the quarter 2-6 and trailed at half 9-12.

The third quarter, Williamston shot the ball well.  A’Kierra Sanders gave a spark to the offense with a bucket and two free throws.  Shelby Smith added a bucket to round out the scoring, We lost the quarter 6-11.

In the fourth quarter, we got more shots to fall and played good defense.  Ellie Hackworth knocked down a big bucket along with a 3 pointer late.  MadDog Madi Redovich made a shot and distributed the ball well when the defense collapsed on her.  A’Kierra Sanders added another basket.  We won the quarter 9-6.  We just couldn’t score enough to keep up.

Final score 29-24.
