Western Freshman Boys Basketball lost in a rematch at Northwest on Thursday, 48-39.
Jayce Thurman scored 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting to help lead the Panthers. Thurman also had five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Western led, 12-2, to start the game, and had a five point lead at halftime, but a 17-9 Northwest surge in the third quarter spelled trouble for the Panthers.
Bennett Schultz scored 10 points as well for Western, and added four rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot.
Cameron Fullerton posted six points, five rebounds and two steals.
Colin Savicke scored two points to go with five steals, three rebounds and two assists.
Connor Wrozek scored three points, grabbed two offensive rebounds and added two assists.
Lucas VanRiper battled illness all week but hit the court running with four points, an assist, a steal and some great defense.
Knox Archer collected a rebound, two assists and a steal.
Nolan Robinson scored two points, handled two rebounds and dished an assist.
Jefferson Merrild scored two points and had a rebound and an assist.
Broyden Cole found two steals, two rebounds and an assist.
Trevor Brandt recorded one rebound.
Western fell to 2-9 with the loss. The Panthers head to Coldwater on Monday for a make-up date game with the Cardinals.
