Girls Basketball Defeats State Ranked Detroit Edison

The Panthers traveled to state ranked Detroit Edison Thursday night for a top ten matchup. The first half was slow in the scoring category with both teams feeling each other out. The Pioneers went on a run late in the 2nd quarter to gain the lead leading into halftime.
The second half brought more scoring and more excitement. The Panthers began to pull away in the 3rd quarter, increasing their lead to 8 before a buzzer beater 3 from the Pioneers to end the quarter. The 4th quarter was back and forth, but the Panthers held on despite heavy foul trouble. The Panther's were led in scoring by Aubree Allen, who posted yet another double-double.
Western travels to Arbor Prep next Tuesday.
