JV Girls Basketball Defeats Hastings

Western JV Lady Panthers traveled to Hastings to play the Saxons.

 

In the first quarter, we played solid team defense and kept the Saxons from scoring.  Ellie Hackworth lead the scoring with 6 points.  Maycee DeGroat put in two free throws and Shelby Smith added another basket.  We won the quarter 10 – 0.

 

The second quarter brought much of the same.  We only allowed 2 points while scoring 17.  Shelby Smith scored 7, MadDog Madi Redovich scored 5, going 3 for 4 from the free throw line.  Olivia Sine scored a basket along with A’Kierra Sanders and a free throw from Ellie Hackworth.  We won the quarter 17-2

 

The second half brought more balance scoring and good defense.  Jill Barnes scored 6 points for a season high.  Ava Buckland played outstanding defense and was on the boards all night while scoring a bucket.  A’Kierra Sanders had 6 points in the half, also a season high.  Maycee DeGroat scored 4 points as well.

 

We continued to rebound better with Ellie Hackworth getting 8 rebounds, Ava Buckland and Shelby Smith with 5 a piece and Maycee DeGroat with 4. 

 

We won the game 51 – 8

Ava Buckland – 2 pts,  5 rebounds, 1 assist

Madi Redovich – 10 pts, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal

Ellie Hackworth – 8 pts,  8 rebounds, 2 steals

A’Kierra Sanders – 6 pts, 3 rebounds

Maybee DeGroat – 6 pts, 4 rebounds, 3 steals

Olivia Sine – 2 pts, 1 assist

Jill Barnes – 6 pts, 1 rebound, 1 Assist, 2 Steals
