Freshman Girls Battled Mason
Freshman Girls Battled Mason
Updated on 01/16/2025

Last night our girls traveled to Mason to take on the Bulldogs. Starting off the game trying to break the press, we were unable to score a lot of points but we were determined to keep trying. We stayed strong on defense and tried hard to run our offense (4-20) In the second quarter, they continued to press and leave us to push through their defense and do whatever we could to get the ball down the court. Once we started to see looks down low we started to break their pressure. On offense we added a new play and decided to take it and run with it. The girls did phenomenal and worked out okay into getting some more points on the board (8-34). At the half our goal was to run our new play and continue to take open shots. Going into the third quarter our play was working and we were getting more open looks and we’re actually able to run our offense a little bit better (12-45). We held them from making many baskets in fourth quarter due to our defensive effort and were able to gain some points back. In the end we were unable to overcome the point deficit, but our team was able to come together and work on something new and see that sometimes trying new things can be a great success! The final score was 21-50. Veronica Allen and Reagan Keena both scored 2 points, Sylvia Bivens scored 4, and Suzanne St. John helped our team out in our new play with 13 points in the paint. It was a fantastic effort this team gave, and I am proud of their ability to keep cool under pressure. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us at Mason and we hope to see you all next week on Wednesday as we take on Harper Creek at home @4:00, be there! Go Panthers!
