Freshman Girls Basketball Defeats St. Johns
Freshman Girls Basketball Defeats St. Johns
Updated on 01/16/2025

Last night our Freshman Girls Basketball team traveled all the way to St. John’s for a late game against the RedWings. We came in ready and prepared for our second game as we took a tough loss from West Catholic on Friday. Monday proved to be a new day as we started off the first quarter. Winning the jump, we took off and ran our offense and looked to score. We steadily held the other team with our impeccable defense and rebounding skills. We ended the first quarter up 9-2. Going into the second quarter we aimed to shoot and score some more points for our team, while also keeping the other team from scoring. We were able to do so and led 20-5 going into the second half of the game. At half time we changed a few things up offensively to give us more shooting opportunities and went out to play the third quarter. Leading 28-15 in the third, we wanted to end with a bang and had a lot of steals and fast breaks to the basket. We ended the fourth quarter with a win for our team, 36-22! What an awesome game to watch as our team played together to get their first win of the season! Our centers helped us out a lot tonight with their tenacity and commitment to shoot. Sylvia Bivens led in scoring with 13 points while Suzanne trailed with 12 points. Carley Gilbert shot an open 3 for points. Izabella Purucker, Raelynn Ahrens, Veronica Allen, and Addison Yanovich all added 2 points to our final score. Reagan Keena and Tori Wielenga played phenomenal and aggressive defense and were both continuing to take shots throughout the entire game. Awesome job to our girls and a big thanks to everyone who made the drive to come and watch us play! Come support us in Mason to take on the Bulldogs this Thursday at 4:00pm! Go Panthers!
