On Tuesday, Northwest traveled to Western take on our Panthers.
The first half was a back and forth affair with both teams playing well on both sides. The first half ended at 21-21.
In the second half, Northwest was able to use excellent team defense and build a 28-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, still being down by 5 with only 2 minutes left, the Panthers turned up the defensive pressure to draw even at 38-38.
With only 34 seconds Western’s Owen Gaughan hit a big 3 to give the Panthers the lead.
Western was able to stop the Mounties late and hold on for a 41-40 win.
Peyton Munz lead the scoring with 18. Dawsyn Baker had his best game with 12. Owen Gaughan along with his game winning 3 added 7. Colin Niemi chipped in 3. Riley Robbins hit a crucial free throw late in the game as well.
