Freshman Volleyball Goes 2-0

Last night our Freshman Volleyball team took on Pewamo-Westphalia and Lakewood at home for another Tri. We have seen Pewamo-Westphalia earlier in our season, but were excited to take on Lakewood first, a new face and a new team for us to play. Lakewood was our first game in the competition and we were able to take a win against them in our new lineup and rotation, even being able to put some players in and share the court time. We beat Lakewood in the first set 25-17 and again in the second set 25-22. With continuous effort, and the ability to actually stay ahead in that game we fought for each point and had to learn to work together on the court to get the job done.
In our next game we play Pewamo-Westphalia. They were coming off of a win in their last game, same as us, so it was up for anyone to take the cake. We started off with great energy, communication, and teamwork in the first set, taking the win 25-19. In the second set they had a 6-1 lead on us, which is difficult for us (as a team) to come back from deficits like this, but we were able to overcome this and continue to gain points on the Pewamo Pirates. We ended up taking both sets and left the court feeling successful beating PW in the last set 25-20. It was a well-deserved win for the Freshman Panthers after taking a tough loss to Harper Creek the night before. Thank you to all of the parents who helped run the concession stand and to everyone who came out and supported our girls last night. Go Panthers!
