Over the weekend, our Freshman Volleyball girls travelled to Battle Creek to participate in the Battle Creek Central High School tournament. We played pretty well in pool play and we were able to beat some teams we have never played before, and we took a loss to Hastings once more. We took our first loss in pool play to Hastings in both sets 17-25 and 12-25. We had to rally and bring our skills and energy together as we had a long day of volleyball ahead of us and we could not let that loss bring us down. We played Loy Norrix next and used our grit and determination to try everything we could to beat this team. We pushed until the very end and it paid off as we lost the first set 24-26 but were able to come back and win the second set 25-23. Our last game in pool play was against Fennville who we were able to beat in both sets. We won the first set 25-11 and the second set 25-18. After pool play was over, we were seeded into the Silver Bracket. We were given a bye due to the score differences and the points we had over both of the teams in our bracket. We played in the final bracket game against Battle Creek Central, who we have seen once already in the season. We beat them in two sets (25-16 and 25-18) to win the Silver Bracket Game. Our girls worked together to get through this tournament and did a great job of showing what they are capable of against teams of all skill levels. Every person played with a desire to win and gave a fantastic display of teamwork on and off the court.
