The boys tennis team competed in two matches the last two days. On Wednesday, Western beat Harper Creek by a score of 7-1. Unfortunately, they did not have the same luck against Lansing Catholic falling short by a score of 3-5.
Western showed impressive matchplay on Wednesday taking care of business on nearly all flights. The lone loss was still a very competitive match. Sophomore pairing Isaac Chilson and Brady Smith secured their first varsity win by a score of 6-0, 6-0. The team remains undefeated in conference play.
However, they did not bring the same energy for Thursday's home match against Lansing Catholic. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd doubles came out with a win. 1st doubles pair of seniors Morgan Devine and Dylan Rogers were able to hold on and win in a third set tiebreak. Sophomore #1 singles fought back to keep things close in the second set against LC's #1... but fell a few points short in games.
Saturday's matches have been cancelled. Next up, they will travel to Jackson Northwest on Monday for a competitive match against the Mounties.
