The 7th Grade Gold/B Team traveled over the weekend (9/7) for a seasoner opener at the Marshall Volleyball Tournament. The Panthers began the morning with a tough loss in pool play against Battle Creek Central 11-25 and 19-25. Battling their way back for the next round of pool play, the Lady Panthers held on strong, but faced another loss against Union City, 22-25 and 20-25. With two games of pool play under their belt, the Panthers came back determined and got their first victory of the day against Harper Creek, winning both sets in their final pool play round, 25-19 and 25-22. Spirits were strong heading into the first round of tournament play and it paid off, as the team won best two out of three against Lakeview, 25-19, 25-27, and 15-14. Semi-finals brought back previous competition, Battle Creek Central, and unfortunately, we came out with another loss against them, although the Lady Panthers fought hard, 12-25 and 17-25. Scoring for the Panthers during tournament play were Lilyanna Buffman (6 aces), Jaelynn King (3 aces), Onika Adams (5 aces), and Callie Patterson (2 aces, 2 kills). Adding digs to help out with defense were Jolene Beal and Falon Laird. We host Pennfield at Home this Tuesday, 9/10. Come cheer on your Lady Panthers at their first home match! Go Panthers!!
