Varsity Volleyball Fairs well in Chelsea

The Western Varsity Volleyball team travelled to Chelsea on Saturday for their annual invite. In pool play, the Panthers went 5-1. In the first game, Western faced off against Jackson High, winning 25–22 and 25–8. The second match was a little bit more competitive, but the Panthers came away with two wins 25–21 and 25–19. The last match in pool was against Saint Catherine. The Panthers fell the first set 20-25 but came back in the second set and were victorious 26–24. This put Western first in the Gold Bracket and first overall. In the first game of bracket play, the Panthers faced off again against a strong and consistent team Saint Catherine. Western won the first set 25–21 but couldn’t settle back in and fell 21-25. In the third set, the Panthers continued to struggle with blocking and defense, losing 10-15.

The Panthers will be back in full force on Tuesday for their TRI at home at 5 o’clock against Battle Creek Central and Eaton Rapids. Go Panthers!
