The 7th Grade Girls B team hosted the Panthers of Pennfield on Friday afternoon for their final contest of the season. Once again we were able to play great defense that led to good transition baskets. When the final whistle blew the score read 37-6 in favor of the home team.
Leading the way offensively was Peyton Austin, who netted 16 points. Kennedi Mohr, a rebounding powerhouse, put up a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Natalie Boss and Aniah Parker chipped in with a couple buckets each, and Ella Hammond grabbed 6 rebounds and swiped 2 steals.
Not to be overlooked, the contributions of Ella Brandt, Kylee Falk, Bethany Julian, and Lucero Orozco added depth to the Panthers’ performance. Josie Zenker battled all night and was able to find 2 open teammates for assists and pulled down 2 rebounds. Charlotte Walz, with her keen eye for opportunity, dished out 2 assists and nabbed 4 steals.
This victory was a fitting end and a testament to a season of growth and grit. We finished the season with a 9-2 record. The future of Western Girls Basketball is bright!
