The 7th grade Panthers girls’ basketball team hit the road to take on the Panthers of Pennfield, thankfully the only train going through Pennfield tonight was the Western Panthers. The Western Panthers were able to come away with a convincing 38-7 win that showcased the improvement the girls have made throughout the season.
Peyton Austin led the scoring with 19 points, adding 3 rebounds, an assist, and 6 steals. Natalie Boss contributed with 2 points and 2 rebounds, while Kylee Falk showed great effort on the court. Ella Hammond scored 4 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, dished out an assist, and snagged a steal.
Bethany Julian and Josie Zenker each made their mark with crucial steals, rebounds and defensive pressure. Kennedi Mohr was unstoppable under the basket with 6 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Aniah Parker added 6 points, 8 rebounds, an assist, and 2 steals. Charlotte Walz was a defensive machine, with 11 steals and a rebound, disrupting Pennfield’s game at every turn.
The Panthers showed what teamwork is all about, each player contributing to a memorable win. This brings our record to 7-2 with two games remaining. Our next game is Thursday night at Coldwater.
