Western varsity boys basketball hosted Marshall on Friday night. The Panthers were able to come out with a win and maintain an undefeated conference record. This win came on a night where the program was able to honor the following 7 seniors for senior night:

An intense back and forth game where the Panthers were losing at halftime by 3 points and by 2 points at the end of the third. Fortunately, the boys finished with a strong 4th quarter forcing 6 turnovers to get the win. Senior captain Benjamin Parrott led the Panthers finishing with 20 points (14 in the second half) and 6 rebounds. More specifically, knocked down a clutch 3 point shot down 44-45 to give the Panthers the lead with 2 minutes left in the game. Junior captain Maverick Hammond finished with 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and forced 5 deflections leading to steals/turnovers. Senior Aidan Barrett was battling foul trouble most of the game but still finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds in 15 minutes of play. Barrett finished 5 of 6 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter alone. Senior Gibson French finished with 5 points and 7 rebounds.

 

The Panthers took the time to cut down the nets for winning the conference outright (1 more conference game at Harper Creek on Friday night). They will host Columbia Central on Tuesday night, travel to BC Harper Creek Friday night and then host Adrian Madison on Monday night for the first game of districts.
