The Western bowling teams were on the road again on Thursday night to finish up conference play against Coldwater at Midway Lanes.
The Varsity Boys looked to continue their winning ways after Tuesday, and pulled out a clutch win in game 1 to start things out. Nolan Woodworth led the team with a 201 start, and clutch shotmaking from Austin Ball and Buster Marr shut the door on the Cardinals as Western took game 1 by a score of 864-855. Game two saw solid performances from Ball (180), Marr (207), and they were joined by Logan Cameron coming in for game 2 with a 172 game, but the boys weren’t able to piece it all together, dropping game 2 and totals for the regular games. The boys went into the bakers down 12-8, needing to win both baker games to take the match, the boys couldn’t get momentum in their favor, dropping the first baker and the match by a final score of 18-12. They salvaged the second baker to end conference play on a positive note with a solid 173.
The Varsity girls looked to play spoiler for a stout Lady Cardinal team. Gaby Semenchuk got things started with a bang, firing her season high series of 330 with games of 160 and 170 to pace the Panthers on the evening. Ashlynn Kurtz pitched in a 139 opener as well, but the ladies were unable to keep pace with Coldwater, dropping the match by a final of 27-3. Semenchuk captured two points on the night for the Panthers. Madason McDonald also captured a point in game 1 with her 124 game to round out the scoring for the Panthers.
The JV boys returned to their winning ways tonight after scuffling at Pennfield, putting on a dominant performance against the JV squad from Coldwater, winning the match by a score of 27-3. Big scores were all over the place for the JV, with Silas York leading the way with games of 151-166. He was joined in game 1 by Nathan Prater (162) and Jayden Lennox, who had his season high of 150. Bryce Thompson got into the act as well, shooting his season best of 170 in game 2
All three teams return to the lanes on Sunday for conference singles at Jax 60 starting at 10am to determine the all conference and honorable mention teams for each division.
