The Parma Western Panthers battled the top team in the league Friday night, trailing just 12-6 at halftime before a difficult third quarter proved to be the difference. The Panthers surrendered most of their points in a tough 3rd quarter but responded with a strong defensive effort in the fourth, shutting down their opponent and forcing two turnovers, both created by freshmen James Harris and Ben Trudell. Western showed tremendous resilience throughout the night, overcoming a significant injury early in the game and having players step into unfamiliar positions to help the team compete. Despite the adversity, the Panthers continued to play physical football and battled until the final whistle against one of the league’s toughest opponents. Their willingness to step up for their teammates demonstrated the toughness and selflessness this program is built on. Lincoln Levy finished 4-of-9 passing for 80 yards and a touchdown. Brody Parrott led the rushing attack with 64 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries, while Camden Cole added 63 yards on 13 carries. Through the air, Andrew Parrott hauled in two receptions for 51 yards, Joel Toyer added a 20-yard reception, and Brody Parrott contributed a 9-yard catch. Defensively, Dexter Videto, Alex Delor, and Ben Trudell led the Panthers in tackles, with Trudell also making a big impact by helping force a turnover. The defense responded after a tough third quarter by shutting down the opposition in the fourth and creating two key turnovers. The Panthers continue to search for a complete four-quarter performance but showed the fight, resilience, and determination needed to compete with the best teams in the league. Western will look to put together that complete performance next week as the Panthers return home for their final home game of the season and Senior Night. The team will look to finish strong and send its seniors out the right way in front of the home crowd.
