Western Panthers Bring Home the Karen Abbott Invite Championship! Western Volleyball traveled to Hanover-Horton today for the annual Karen Abbott Invite and brought home the championship, keeping their undefeated season rolling at 32-0! The Panthers went a perfect 6-0 in sets during pool play, earning wins over Grass Lake (26-16, 27-26), Traverse City Saint Francis (25-19, 25-11), and Hudson (25-10, 25-22). Western entered bracket play as the second seed and defeated Columbia Central in the quarterfinals, 25-13 and 25-22. In the semifinals, the Panthers faced a solid Hanover-Horton team and battled for a 26-24 opening-set win before taking the second set, 25-17. The championship match brought another tough challenge against the state ranked Lenawee Christian team. Western edged out the first set, 25-23, then took charge in the second, winning 25-15 to secure the title! It was great to see the Panthers elevate and deliver a tremendous team performance, even with a six-rotation starter out of the lineup. Their teamwork, determination, and willingness to rise to each challenge continue to make the difference. Every obstacle brought an opportunity for someone to step up—and this team answered the call.
