The Western Boys Middle School Cross Country Team finished in first place and the Girls Team finished in second at the I8 Jamboree on Tuesday. The Jamboree took place at the Western home course. Joshua Irvin (7th) finished second overall in the Boys race to lead the Panthers. Irvin ran a 12:07.8 and helped the Western Boys end with 42 total team points and a 2-point victory. Wesley Nierer (8th) ran a 13:17.7 to land in seventh place. Owen Bradley (6th) had his best time of the season, running a 13:23.3 and ending in ninth place overall. Ben Hammond (8th) returned from injury to finish 11th at 13:33.1, and Liam Rivera (8th) rounded out the scoring for Western with a time of 13:42.6 and a 13th place finish. On the Girl’s side, the Lady Panthers rallied 72 team points to finish second, ahead of Northwest by one point. Laila Rotich (8th) led all Western Lady runners by finishing third overall at 14:11.5. Adaynn Newton (8th) took sixth place in the event with at time of 14:58.6. Abigail Jacobson (7th) ran a 16:06.8 to take 12th place. Kylie Burroughs (7th) claimed 25th place with a time of 17:17.7, and Hayden Blanchard (6th) finished the scoring for Western by placing 28th at 17:32.2.
