Varsity Football Battled Hastings

Panthers Rally From 22-Point Deficit, Fall to Hastings 30–22 Western fell to Hastings 30–22 Friday night, but the Panthers showed tremendous fight after trailing 22–0 at halftime, scoring 22 unanswered points in the second half to make it a game late. Senior quarterback Lincoln Levy led the comeback effort on the ground and through the air. Levy finished 8-of-16 passing for 126 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while adding 113 rushing yards on 12 carries. Levy provided one of the biggest plays of the night in the third quarter, breaking loose on a huge touchdown scramble to put Western on the scoreboard and ignite the comeback. The Panthers continued to battle in the fourth quarter when Levy connected with sophomore Logan Young on a huge touchdown pass, bringing Western’s total to 22 points and putting the Panthers within one score. Young had a standout night, finishing with 5 receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown. The sophomore also contributed 20 rushing yards on 5 carries, giving him 120 total yards of offense. Western’s ground game was led by Brody Parrott, who carried 16 times for 68 yards and had a huge touchdown in the 4th quarter comeback. Camden Cole added 37 yards on 6 carries. Defensively, Dexter Videto led the Panthers with 9 tackles. While Hastings ultimately held on for the 30–22 victory, Western’s second-half response showed the fight and resilience of the Panthers. After being shut out in the first half, Western scored 22 consecutive points and battled until the final whistle.
