Western Middle School Cross Country Battles The Course, Elements at Lakeview Invitational

Joshua Irvin took tenth place in the Boys 7th & 8th Grade Cross Country race at the Lakeview Invitational on Saturday. Irvin (7th) ran a 12:35.37 in the race, leading the Panther Boys to a 7th place team finish for the event. Wesley Nierer (8th) claimed 52nd place in his first race of the season, charting a 13:56.00 time. Ben Hammond (8th) finished 53rd with a time of 13:56.53. Liam Rivera (8th) and Titus Clanton (8th) rounded out the scoring for the Panthers. Rivera finished 59th overall at 14:03.81 and Clanton took 68th overall at 14:19.27. Sam Decker (6th) took 11th place in the Boys 6th Grade race with a time of 14:35.04. The Western Ladies claimed 11th place as a team on the afternoon. Western was led by Laila Rotich (8th) and Adalynn Newton (8th). Rotich finished 30th with a time of 15:33.32, and Newton finished 33rd at 15:38.54. Abigail Jacobson (7th) claimed 84th place with a time of 18:16.99. Tessa Wyman (8th) and Laynie Sawyer (8th) finished the scoring for Western, as Wyman took 118th place at 20:15.62 and Sawyer placed 153rd at 25:35.82. The Western Girls finished with 86 team points, four points behind 3rd place Adrian.
