Western Volleyball started its season strong Wednesday night, going 2-0 in its home opener with compelling wins over Pewamo-Westphalia and Columbia Central. The Panthers opened the night against Pewamo-Westphalia and came out firing, earning a 25-16, 25-14 victory. Western carried that momentum into its second match, defeating Columbia Central 25-15, 25-16 to complete the sweep. Several Panthers contributed to the strong opening night. Georgia Addleman led the offense with 8 kills and 3 aces, while Aykina Weatherspoon recorded 4 kills, 3 aces and 1 block. Ella Wilcox added 4 kills, 3 aces and 3 digs. Running the offense, Madi Redovich finished the night with 17 assists and 3 digs, while Shelby Smith was strong at the net with 2 blocks. It was a great all-around team effort as Western protected its home court and opened the season with a 2-0 record. Western returns to action Saturday at the Chelsea Invite. Go PANTHERS!
